GOOCH, Ernest Waters

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Ernest Gooch (1931-2015), who recently celebrated his 63rd wedding anniversary with his loving wife Marion. Surrounded by family at Hamilton General, Ernie passed peacefully in a room overflowing with the same love and support he had always offered. Husband, Daddy, Poppa, Granddad, Ernie, Ern - each name carried with it a loving deep connection.

Proud Father to Cathy & Pete, Barb & Walter, and Mike & Kathi; Grandfather to Sara (Mauricio), Laura (Steve), Nick'er (Vicky), Jacob (Naghmeh), Megan (Connor) and Josie-Baby (Kyle); Great-Grandfather to Sofia and Juliana, and a Baby Gooch on the way.

Present, genuine and joyful, he wore his heart on his sleeve with pride for himself and for his family: “always tell them who you are!” One of the many special things about him, was how special he made everyone else feel. With a heart so big, you could feel it in any room he was in.

He will be incredibly missed. His spirit is too beautiful to be forgotten and will live on in the grateful family he and Marion built. Ernie was doing what he loved until the very end: golfing, working out at the Y, enjoying scotch by his “ocean”, and simply watching his family be. Ernie retired to Southampton after 35 years at Butler Manufacturing, before moving back to Burlington last year.

A Celebration of His Life will be held at Spencer's at the Waterfront, October 25, any time between 2-4 p.m. In memoriam, donations to Burlington YMCA www.ymcahbb.ca would be appreciated. Condolences may be made at www.dbburlington.ca
