Harper, Nancy Elizabeth Sholes
Passed away in her sleep in the love & comfort of her daughters Susan and Faith on March 6, 2016 at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington ON. Nancy was predeceased by her husband Edwin Joseph (February 1977) and her son Christopher David (July 2015). Nancy is survived by her sister Susan Cox (Roger Cox), her daughters Susan Harper, Faith Harper (Ted Kellachan), and by her sons Peter Harper (Jacqui Sands-Harper) and Jonathan Harper (Joan Harper) and her daughter-in-law Melissa Hill, plus Nancy’s 15 grandchildren, all of whom appreciate the wonderful person she was, and continue to love her greatly. Nancy was born in Middlebury Vermont and always kept the idea of being a Vermonter strongly in her heart. She was gifted in raising children and spoke to them with care and respect. She married her husband Ted in England and the two decided to raise their family in Canada. When she returned to the job market she worked at Canada Centre for Inland Waters in Burlington as a research scientist. While working she kept very active in many local organizations, notably Wilson Medical Clinic in Hamilton and Burlington University Women’s Group. Nancy was blessed with a bright and curious mind and a love of travel. She loved that people came from different backgrounds, and was always open and welcoming, while keeping her strong sense of values. She delighted in giving presents to her family at birthdays & Christmas. Our family would like to acknowledge help of friends: Ljuba Simovic, Noreen McNairn, Diane Shincariol, Christine McNally, and Karen Ralph; and her great physicians Dr. Davis/Bursey/Sharma, Dr. Mayer, Dr. Perrin, Dr. Bhandhal, and Nurse Deb Weber and their support teams. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home in Burlington on May 7, 2016, all are welcome.
