Motyer, Sally Wendy (nee Benjamin)

Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, at the Carpenter Hospice on Friday May 13, 2016 at the age of 84. Loving wife of the late Leonce Motyer (Dec 2009) for 54 years. Cherished mother of John Motyer (Zhanna) of Bermuda, Leonce Motyer of Burlington, Sally Gallo (Paul) of Burlington, Valerie George (David) of Edmonton. Beloved grandmother of Heather, Curtis (Rachelle), Dani, Katie, Kristin, Valeriya and Aleksei. Proud great grandmother to Sienna. Darling sister to Bumble, Frances and Terry of England, and Manny of Australia. Adored aunt of many nieces and nephews scattered around the world. She will also be missed by her many extended family and friends. Sally was an incredibly strong woman with a gentle and gracious spirit. She faced her illness as she did everything in life with a cheerful, upbeat disposition. It can honestly be said that everyone who knew her, loved her. Words will never adequately express how much she was loved and how dearly she will be missed. Sally’s family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care of Dr. Walsh and Tracy of the Caroline Medical Group team, Ildy and Dr. Plach’s Palliative Care team at the JBMH Cancer Clinic, Ruth Forbes and her CCAC team, the Care Partner PSW’s while living at home, staff and volunteers at Christopher Terrace and Acclaim Health, and The Carpenter Hospice team of staff and volunteers. Our heartfelt thanks to the ParaMed Palliative Nurses, especially Mira, our dedicated and compassionate palliative nurse who walked every step with Sally on her 11 month journey; whose extraordinary care and compassion will forever be remembered, not only as an exceptional nurse, but a treasured friend who guided and supported us every day. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at Burlington Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Sally’s life will take place on Saturday May 28, 2016 at Wellington Square United Church located at 2121 Caroline St. in Burlington. The service begins at 1:00pm and a reception will follow in the Pritchard Room. In lieu of flowers, any donations in memory of Sally to the Carpenter Hospice in Burlington would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
