CROMBIE, Margaret May (nee Campbell) RN
September 28,1924-February 27,2016
Margaret passed away peacefully in Burlington, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband Douglas, her parents Mary and Archibald Campbell, and her sister Moira F. Child. She will be sadly missed by her children Roderick (Teryl), Fionnella (Howard), Andrew (Shelley), Sheilagh and her grandchildren, Alastair (Rosemary), Stewart, and Iain. Also loved and remembered by her extended family in Canada and abroad. Born in Gorebridge, Scotland, Margaret trained as a registered nurse at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, graduating in 1948. She and Douglas immigrated to Canada in 1954, residing mainly in Ottawa. She worked as a registered nurse until the mid 1980’s when she retired from Sontex Occupational Health Services, the company she had formed with 2 nursing friends. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She always enjoyed a good joke, swimming at the cottage on Little Cedar Lake and visiting with close friends and family. She was well known for her shortbread, trifle and homemade jams and was a second mother to the Seguin St. Gang in Ottawa. The family would like to thank the staff at Sunrise Senior Living, Burlington for their exceptional care and kindness and also the staff at Joseph Brant Hospital for keeping her comfortable in her final days. Cremation has taken place. Interment and a celebration of her life will take place in Ottawa, date to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. On line condolences at www.dbburlington.ca
