Davilis, Giorgios (George)
Passed away peacefully with his family at his side on May 30th, 2014.
George was born in Argos Greece on Feb 16, 1933. In Greece he met his wife Eleftheria (Vicky) of 55 years. In Greece George served in the Greek military as a Motorcycle MP. George and Vicky came to Canada in 1958 and settled in London before moving to Ottawa. In the capital he would shine shoes for the members of parliament. He eventually moved to Burlington making it home ever since. George was a great story teller and well known as being one of the owners of the Cozy Restaurant for many years. He would always tell you the meaning of a word deriving from its Greek origin. Education was a big priority for George and would always ask the meaning of an English word to better understand. His Greek heritage was part of his passion and he ensured that it was not lost and started the 1st Greek school program in Burlington in his basement. George is survived by his wife Eleftheria, his two daughters Hareclea (Gus) and Athanasia (Chris) and will be especially missed by his grandchildren Christopher, Christian (Danielle), Giorgio, Catherine (Brandon), Constantine and Alexandra. Not to be forgotten is his favourite niece Joanne(Bill) and their girls Deanna and Taylor.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the "ladies" at Joseph Brant in 4 East and Victoria Hospital in London who looked after George as if he was one of their own.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 2 from 4 to 8 pm at the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME- BURLINGTON CHAPEL (2241 New Street, Burlington 905-637-5233), with prayers at 7:30.
