STETSON, Donald Alfred

Donald Alfred Stetson, June 5th, 1927. It is with deep sadness that we announce Dad's passing on July 7th, 2012 at Oakville-Trafalgar Hospital. His loving family was by his side. He will be missed forever by his wife, Betty (Taylor), of 66 years and his three children, Dawn Campbell, Ted Stetson (Louise) and Elizabeth Laros (Tony). Bompa has left behind his beautiful 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandkids. Thoughts from his grandchildren; "The most important things in life I learned by watching my Grandpa, Don Stetson. He loved without reservation. He gave, selflessly. He supported and rooted for all of us, completely. He could turn wounds, into wisdom to share. He always did the right thing. He treasured all of his family. He had the kindest heart. I will miss him for the rest of my life." All of his family feels the same, "he was a true gentleman." "His success in life is his family and there are a lot of us to keep his memory alive." Dad was born in Ottawa, the oldest of eight children, moved to Hamilton with his family at 15 and when his Father lost his arm in an accident, he went to work to help support his family. He joined the army at 18 during World War II and was a proud Mason and a member of three lodges. He worked hard all his life. He retired in his mid-seventies and was the care-giver for his wife. His four remaining siblings, many nieces & nephews will miss him together with his Aunts and Uncles with whom he's remained close. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Donald to The Lung Association would be appreciated. Funeral Service is July 21, 2012 at 1:00PM in the Roseland Suite of the DODSWORTH & BROWN FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON CHAPEL, 2241 New Street (at Drury Lane), Burlington, 905-637-5233. Reception to follow.
